Casting Director for a Day with Andrea Toyias

Andrea Toyias’ newest workshop, Casting Director for a Day, was born out of her realization that “if actors could only hear what I hear as a casting director, they would have a much better understanding of what makes a great audition”. Thus, Andrea’s newest class took flight. With actors now entirely self-directing from their home booth – often with no idea if their auditions are even “close” to being good – Andrea decided it was not time to give voice talent a peek behind the other side of the glass and essentially becoming casting interns for a day. Through a lively discussion of what makes a good audition, combined with a review of real-life auditions that have landed in Andrea’s inbox, participants will get a solid understanding of what casting directors are looking for and what truly makes an audition shine. Andrea will also have each participant submit an audition before class so that it can be reviewed with her so that both can work together to see what improvements can be made.
